Creating Products
Sometimes you’ll come across a product that isn’t in your system yet — a new arrival, a special order, or something that was never entered. FastQuery makes it simple to add new products right from your phone.

How to Create a Product
Section titled “How to Create a Product”Open the mobile app and tap Create Product to get started. The process has three quick steps:
Step 1: Photo of the Front
Section titled “Step 1: Photo of the Front”Take a clear photo of the product’s front packaging. This helps FastQuery identify the item and gives you a good image for your records.
Step 2: Photo of the Label
Section titled “Step 2: Photo of the Label”Take a photo of the product’s label or barcode area. This captures important details like the manufacturer, size, and other identifying information.
Step 3: Scan the Barcode
Section titled “Step 3: Scan the Barcode”Use the built-in barcode scanner to read the product’s UPC. This links the correct barcode number to your new product so it can be looked up by scanning in the future.
AI-Powered Descriptions and Images
Section titled “AI-Powered Descriptions and Images”Here’s where FastQuery saves you real time. After you complete the three steps, the AI automatically:
- Generates a professional product description based on the photos you took
- Creates a clean product image ready for your inventory
You don’t need to type out descriptions or edit photos — FastQuery handles it for you.
Background Processing
Section titled “Background Processing”Product creation happens in the background, so you can keep working while FastQuery processes your new item. You’ll receive a notification when the product is ready and added to your inventory.
Finding Your New Products
Section titled “Finding Your New Products”Once processing is complete, the new product appears in your inventory and is fully searchable. You can find it by browsing the inventory grid, scanning its barcode, or asking the AI about it in chat.
Products Without a UPC
Section titled “Products Without a UPC”Some items don’t have a standard UPC barcode — bulk goods, locally made products, or store-brand items, for example. When you create a product without a real UPC, FastQuery assigns a synthetic UPC that starts with the letter “s”. This synthetic code works just like a regular UPC within FastQuery, so you can still scan and look up the product normally.
